Sufrir un proceso de conquista y dominación parecido al que empezó en las Américas con la llegada de Cristóbal Colón. Siendo el 'descubrimiento' del nuevo mundo el principio de ese proceso de "colonización" la palabra hace referencia al nombre del primer explorador: "Colón".
Si el 'descubridor' de América hubiera sido Magallanes la palabra probablemente se habría desarrollado como "Magallanización"

Señalar un camino, apuntar hacia un lugar o una dirección. Palabra que deriva de la práctica típica de ciertos exploradores medievales de lanzarse a la mar con la esperanza de llegar al final de sus viajes a la India a través del Océano Índico (y a menudo equivocándose y acabando descubriendo nuevos continentes inesperados). Siendo el rumbo de dichos exploradores siempre hacia el "Océano Índico" la palabra hace referencia a esa búsqueda del "Mar Índico" siendo como decir "apuntar al Índico", "buscar el Índico", "procurar el Índico". por lo tanto la palabra deriva del topónimo "Índico" del cual deriva la forma verbal "indicar".

african toponymic map
the same thing I did for Americas two posts before, now it's the turn of Africa, the other strongly colonized continent in which Europeans made a bit what they wanted.
so, considering only the name of the countries, here you have the toponymic map of Africa in which it was interesting to distinguish names coming from local languages, name derived from european languages and names coming from arabic, that was the other strong influence in the continent besides the europeans.

American Toponymic map
I just checked the etymology of every province, state or region of the main countries in both Americas and I assigned a colour for names deriving from European languages and another colour for names deriving from Native American languages.
for smaller countries I just checked the toponyms of the country itself.
that is the result.
completely mixed up!
I used as a base an image I found in the net in which there was the same concept and an even more detailed definition of languages: french, spanish, english... or quetchan, arawakan, caddoan, eskimo...
the image was nice and very interesting, but it only considered the inner divisions of the USA, Canada and Mexico.
in addiction of this I thought it would be even more interesting just using 2 colours showing the name of places of the colonizers (the Europeans) and the Native (the real Americans), without making differences between the different languages inside these two groups.
the result is interesting. check it out.

continua con sorprendente rigore e disciplina la realizzazione dello Sky-Project una foto del cielo per ogni girono della mia vita nel periodo di tempo di un anno.
siamo arrivati a sei mesi!
ecco l'anteprima piccolissima della serie, giorno per giorno.
intanto c'è da dire che mi aspettavo più blu profondo in estate, ma (forse colpevole anche quel mese estivo in regno unito) i cieli non sono stati proprio così esenti da nubi e grigiori.
in inverno anche si prevede che non ci saranno solo cieli grigi, visti i viaggi tropicali e nell'emisfero australe tra dicembre e febbraio. questo falserà completamente la sensazione di grigiore tipica di un classico inverno europeo, ma in fondo il progetto poteva prendere due linee e io sto portando avanti quella esistenziale: i cieli che ho visto io, quelli che hanno registrato i miei occhi e non i cieli astratti di un luogo, nell'arco di un anno, alla stessa ora e attraverso tutte le stagioni.
insomma, non sarà semplicemente un time-lapse dei cieli di un anno attraverso tutte le stagioni, ma invece si tratterà dei miei cieli, celebrati attraverso la serie di foto che dà importanza a ciascuno di essi, senza dimenticarmene nessuno.

papelitos adivinatorios
queréis una serie de mensajes del destino siempre a vuestro alcance en cada momento?
muy bien!
coged un libro. un libro viejo. uno de esos libros que no vais a leer nunca o que habéis leído, no vais a releer y (por quién sabe cual razón misteriosa) no vais a regalar a nadie ni a tirar.
agora con unas tijeras (o incluso a mano, simplemente) haced las páginas a pedazos.
tenéis que obtener una serie de pequeños cuadraditos de páginas de libro con trozos casuales de frases.
ahora poned en una caja todas esas mini páginas huérfanas de su contexto o de la continuación de cada frase.
et voila!
ya tenéis una perfecta baraja de papeles con misteriosos mensajes del destino que podéis ir pescando de vez en cuando, cuando necesitéis de una respuesta o de una reflexión sobre vuestro futuro.
de hecho todas las artes divinatorias se fundan sobre mensajes crípticos y difíciles de descifrar. frases no dichas que no hacen sentido del todo, símbolos interpretables que salen inesperadamente, etc: los tarots, el i-ching, la numerología, la quiromancia. pero también los adivinos y los oráculos antiguos.
así que gracias a un libro inútil ahora tenéis en casa un oráculo de Delfos personalizado!
que tengáis un buen mensaje para vuestro futuro.... como el mío, que pesqué hoy, por casualidad.
empezar con "mente iluminada. arriba sol" me parece un muy buen comienzo.

parola opposta coincidente
Le parole sono contenitori di concetti e a volte sono così capienti da contenere addirittura il contrario di se stesse!
non serve prendere la parola francese "personne" che significa sia persona che nessuno per capire di cosa stiamo parlando, anche la lingua italiana è piena di esempi di questo tipo!
vediamone alcuni:
caso - caso può voler dire, dipendendo dal contesto: a) situazione fortuita dettata dall'aleatorietà e totalmente imprevedibile a priori, oppure b) situazione specifica studiabile in dettaglio e ben concreta. un caso concreto.
meditare - meditare vuol dire a) liberare la mente da qualsiasi pensiero applicando la pratica spirituale della meditazione, oppure b) riempire la testa di ragionamenti strutturati e di pensieri molto attenti meditando su un certo evento.
pauroso - pauroso è un aggettivo che può significare a) persona molto facilmente spaventabile spesso quasi senza motivo, oppure b) una cosa che oggettivamente spaventa tantissimo e fa proprio paura.

Praticamente in base alla posizione questa parola inverte il suo significato.
ospite - ospite è come quasi non dire assolutamente nulla perché nel caso una persona si faccia ospitare nella casa di qualcuno a) l'ospite è colui che viene ospitato, ma anche b) colui che ospita. se vi sembra che abbia senso...

the Tide Dam
it's not the first time that I'm thinking about a dam that can produce energy using the sea. if you look at the post called "turbine a maree" I've already planned a sort of tide-engine that uses the changing level of the seas as a constant source of energy.
Indeed I think this is a technology that can be successfully developed.
it's a Tide-Dam.
Dams always need a difference of level from a side to the other in order to produce a flow of liquid that can be used to move a propeller and therefore to produce energy.
generally the dams are built on the valleys of the mountains in order to create these difference of levels of waters.
but what happens if you don't have mountains?
I think that a good idea (and sometimes even a safer idea in comparison with mountain dams if you consider the possibility of a dam failure... which sometimes happens) could be a tide-dam: a dam that uses the constant changing level of sea waters to generate energy.
the moon is the real engine of this dam: every 12 hours the tides invert their sense and the levels of the oceans are changing.
the only thing to do is to close up a basin of water sufficiently wide and to put some propellers on the walls in order to permit a flow of sea currents through them.
the basin will slowly fill up but in the meanwhile the level of the seas will be changing and suddenly the basin water level will be higher than the sea level in its low tide, so the flow will invert and the energy will be produced by the currents of the waters which are draining the basin to the sea.
it means: constant energy just creating a wall with some propellers
isn't it nice?
